About Me

You are in a hurry so here is the short bio:
More About Me…
Marc has always had a love for technology and how it can be used in the workplace…
In 1991, whilst serving as a Medic in the Royal Navy, he designed a vaccination recall database on an old DOS PC. It saved the medical team many hours in administration and from that moment on he was truly “hooked” on the value of PCs.
Then when he logged onto the Internet for the first time in May 1994, he saw the business potential and so started to learn how to create websites!
When Microsoft released Windows XP in 2001, home users were starting to connect to the Internet in large numbers. By then Marc was an IT Manager for a charity based in Brighton and could often be found online, in his lunch breaks, supporting newsgroup users with Windows XP software and hardware issues.
In 2003 he decided to create a website dedicated to hosting articles on the common Windows XP support issues and so his popular website UpdateXP.com was born.
Microsoft spotted his work supporting their online community via his website and newsgroup contributions. This recognition of his technical knowledge and willingness to help others led to him being awarded their Most Valuable Professional (MVP) award - more here. An award he went on to receive for 7 consecutive years (2004 – 2010).
Marc gave up his job as an IT manager in the summer of 2004 and has worked full time ever since supporting users of Windows software, and provides services for BOTH small businesses and home users.
Having a keen interest in audio and video compression techniques, in 2004, Marc released a small utility for listing installed codec’s on a Windows XP computer – SHERLOCK The CODEC Detective. (now over 1.8 million downloads!)
In 2007 Marc co-created an application for small businesses to utilise the Amazon.com S3 storage network Data Bucket Pro, as well as co-creating the world’s 1st offline utility for creating Google Video Sitemaps: Video Sitemap Pro.
Marc has also released (2008) a small utility for listing all system and signed drivers on a Windows Vista computer – SHERLOCK the Driver Detective.
Marc also creates and sells Windows training videos which can be found at: MarcLironPublishing.com
Supporting Small Business Owners
In January 2011 Marc decided to concentrate his technical skills in helping small business owners market themselves online; mainly through the growing use of Mobile marketing (Mobile Websites, Mobile Apps and Mobile SMS).
In addition he is also helping small business owners increase their profits by building custom Facebook Apps that engage customers and build targeted email lists…
